In the past year, your support has made a huge difference to the lives of cancer patients

How your support touches the lives of people with cancer

In the hardest year any of us can remember, you’ve been here for cancer patients. Whether they were undergoing treatment or adjusting to life after, they found themselves cut off from loved ones, feeling more isolated than ever. But you reached out with your support, helping them to realise that they were not alone – and that others cared. We cannot thank you enough.

Here, we look at just a handful of people who we’ve supported over the last year – and how your generosity has really made a difference.

Dorothy's Story

Dorothy Cancer Coach volunteer

It was her son’s experience of cancer that inspired Dorothy to become a Cancer Coach volunteer. Read about her experience.

Louise's Story

Louise, 55, was diagnosed with cancer in 2020. After her treatment had finished, she participated in a Cancer Coach support group.

1,000 Christmas cuddles

Last year, we sent 1,000 warmable Christmas teddies to children’s cancer wards across the UK.

Our Comfort Kits appeal

This autumn, we’re launching out new Comfort Kits, specifically designed to meet the needs of older cancer patients.

The Kits contain a microwavable hot water bottle for patients who perhaps feel the cold more than most, especially during draining treatment, a magnifying glass to help an older person read medical notes and medication instructions clearly, anti-sickness bands to help alleviate the nausea associated with some cancer treatments, a heat pad to ease the aches and pains that often come with treatment, a travel pillow to bring comfort during long spells in hospital, and other practical and soothing items.

You’ve helped us to raise nearly £9,225 so far, which could fund 369 new Kits. Click the button to follow our Comfort Kits progress.
