Thank you for supporting children with cancer

Bella's Story

At Easter 2020, Cancer Support UK donors gave to our Easter Cuddles appeal. As a result, we were able to send 400 cuddly teds to children with cancer in hospitals and hospices across the UK.

Bella was one of the children who received an Easter Cuddles ted. Just four-years-old when diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia in November 2020, she has been undergoing treatment at the Royal Marsden in Sutton; a hospital recipient of one of our Easter Cuddles ted deliveries for children on the wards, and one of the largest children’s cancer centres in Europe.

Bella is known as being a very caring and smiley little girl. Her mum, Jacqui, says Bella is “determined and strong, and likes to keep the doctors and nurses on their toes.” Those doctors and nurses have been described as “absolutely fantastic” throughout Bella’s time in hospital, and they gave one of our Easter Cuddles teds – a cuddly Easter chick – to her.

We were told that the arrival of her soft ted gave Bella a real boost at the most difficult time, and restored her big smile.

“We are very grateful for Cancer UK’s support,” Jacqui told us. “Anything that can bring a smile to Bella’s face and help her to forget what she is going through.”

We also received a lovely email from Bella herself, which brought an incredibly warm glow to Cancer Support UK staff. It simply read, “Thank you so much for my Easter Cuddles, love Bella xxx”
