Thank you for helping people with cancer

Linus' Story

Diagnosed with prostate cancer in 2021, Linus Wilson, 63, from Essex, was ready to take action. His two uncles both had prostate cancer, so Linus knew what he needed to do as he prepared for surgery. Adopting a healthy diet and exercising, he shed two stone.

After recovery, Linus returned to work. While he found sympathy among his colleagues, no one used the word ‘cancer’. Linus got in touch with our team and was offered a place on our Workplace Ambassador training course. ‘I understand now why people were reluctant to use certain phrases when talking to me – it wasn’t personal; it was just a behavioural thing.’

Linus also joined one of our Cancer Coach support groups. ‘I found it so helpful listening to other people’s experiences. You get to know people you wouldn’t normally meet and it’s a great way of sharing your worries.’

Please give a regular donation to help fund our Cancer Coach Support groups to help even more people like Linus during their cancer journey.
