Karen is 60 years old and has had breast cancer twice – each time in the same breast. Her first diagnosis was in 2015 – a fast-growing cancer, which was successfully treated. Then in 2021, a routine mammogram confirmed her worst fear – the cancer had returned. 

Second time around, Karen’s treatment comprised a mastectomy and chemotherapy, which left her with hearing loss, tinnitus and heart issues. When Karen’s emotional wellbeing was at rock bottom, she heard about our Cancer Coach support groups. 

“If I hadn’t found Cancer Coach, I think I would have had a nervous breakdown. The group made me realise that I was just as vulnerable as everyone else. I know I have changed and I’m not the person I was, but I feel I’m a better person now.”  Karen
