Andy's Story
Andy Clarke, 58, remembers the exact date he received his diagnosis. ‘It was 20 April 2011 when my oncologist said: “It’s cancer”.’
Despite the fatigue that the radiotherapy caused, Andy carried on working because he wanted a sense of normality. ‘I felt like I was on a rollercoaster. One moment I was up, saying yes, I’m going to beat this. The next, I felt really low and couldn’t help thinking the worst.’
Andy recently undertook our Workplace Ambassador training, which he found inspirational. ‘The training helps me to ask more empathetic questions and to signpost people to other organisations.’
Andy has also benefited from joining one of our Cancer Coach support groups. ‘To be with others who’ve had similar experiences helps you feel less afraid. Cancer Coach gives you skills that help you take control of your life.’
Please give a regular donation to help fund our Cancer Coach Support groups to help even more people like Andy during their cancer journey.
