Thank you for helping people with cancer

Lynne's Story

In December 2021, Lynne found a lump in her breast, which turned out to be cancer. It was thankfully caught early. Lynne had lumpectomy surgery, followed by radiotherapy and hormone blockers to prevent a reoccurrence.

The treatment was such a blur of activity that by the end, Lynne felt she’d not had time to process the impact of the diagnosis. She also felt an expectation from family, friends and colleagues that she’d simply step back into ‘normal’ life.

She’d had some counselling but needed something more to process what had happened. She particularly wanted to talk to people who’d been through similar experiences. This is when she found out about our Cancer Coach course.

She found Cancer Coach sessions so useful. They are for anyone who has completed treatment for cancer, and provide an opportunity to share practical and emotional support in a safe space with others who have been through the same experience.

For Lynne, the sessions reinforced strategies she had discussed in counselling with other patients who truly understood her journey. ‘I really enjoyed the sharing of experiences,’ she says, ‘and making sense of my own thoughts and anxieties. It’s been a massive part of my healing process.’
