Jonny and Dan’s skydive raises £1,135 for Cancer Support UK

Two of our supporters, Jonny and Dan, recently completed skydives for us and raised an amazing £1,135. Last year they sadly lost their father and father-in-law to cancer, and wanted to not only mark the anniversary one year on, but also to help other people with cancer and their families.

They decided to be brave (and some may say, crazy!) and sign up for a skydive with us. We have airfields all over the UK, and Jonny and Dan’s skydive was over the picturesque Grange-Over-Sands. We asked Jonny a few questions about their skydives just after they’d completed them, to find out more about their experience.

What made you choose to skydive for Cancer Support UK?

We did the skydive for Cancer Support UK because we sadly lost a close relative last year to Cancer. It happened extremely quickly and I wouldn’t wish anyone to watch a family member lose their life to cancer. The more help and donations charities like Cancer Support UK get the better.

What was your skydive like?

Our skydive was amazing – what an experience! I was petrified of heights but you are so high up you don’t even realise! We jumped from Grange-over-Sands in the North West and the views are incredible. The team at skydive North West are a great bunch and make you feel really safe and secure.

What would you say to someone who was thinking about doing a skydive in memory of a loved one?

DO IT! Don’t hesitate…get it booked and do it!

To find out more about booking a skydive, visit our Challenge Events page. If you raise over the minimum fundraising target you can cover the costs of your skydive and jump for free!
