Cruse’s support line is available seven days a week, but the hours vary, so please refer to the website to check opening times. The charity provides resources on understanding grief, as well as a search tool to help locate local Cruise support centres.

Sue Ryder offers online bereavement support, which includes: access to online bereavement counselling, access to expert advice and tools for coping with grief as well as personalised grief support via text message. It also offers an online bereavement community, where individuals can exchange messages to share how they’re feeling and to support each other. Sue Ryder does not offer a bereavement support helpline. All support is facilitated online.

Winston’s Wish is a charity that helps children, teenagers and young adults (up to the age of 25), to process and manage their grief. Its on-demand grief support services are all available online and include live chat, a helpline, email and text support. The Freephone National Helpline offers therapeutic advice on child bereavement. The charity can speak to the grieving young person or their parents, teachers or support workers.

The Childhood Bereavement Network is an organisation for anyone working with bereaved children, young people and their families across the UK. Individuals can use the website to locate local support for bereaved children. Families can also refer themselves directly to these free services. Other children’s professionals (such as teachers and GPs) can access information, guidance and support through the website.

The Child Death Helpline offers a free telephone service for anyone affected by the death of a child. Its confidential helpline is open every day of the year (opening times are on the website). The helpline is run by bereaved parents, so they are uniquely placed to offer support to anyone affected by the death of a child of any age, under any circumstances, whether recently or long ago.

The Compassionate Friends (TCF) is a charitable organisation of bereaved parents, siblings and grandparents dedicated to the support and care of other similarly bereaved family members who have suffered the death of a child or children from one month old and from any cause.

Its UK National helpline is open every day of the year and is run by volunteers who are all bereaved parents. The charity provides emotional support and, where possible, can help to find a local group support service.

It also offers online support groups, which are facilitated through Zoom and can be accessed via the website.

Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) is a UK based organisation offering peer-led support to adults impacted by suicide loss. It helps individuals support each other, both at the time of their loss and through the months and years to come.

SOBS offers a national support line for information and emotional support, as well as an email support service. The website also offers a search facility to help locate local self-help support groups. Its online community forum offers peer-to-peer support, which can also be accessed via the website.
