Thank you for helping over 1,500 children with cancer at Christmas

Teenage Cancer Trust Cardiff message of thanks

We are delighted to say that thanks to your incredibly generous donations, our Cuddles for Christmas appeal and our new Bag of Smiles campaign exceeded their targets.

We sent 1,000 Cuddles Warmies teds and 500 Bags of Smiles to poorly children in NHS hospitals and hospices across the UK.

The teddies are perfect for snuggling up to and bring both warmth and comfort to little hands and toes affected by cancer treatment.

Our Bag of Smiles certainly made time spent in hospital a little brighter for children waiting for treatment. The bags were packed full of Christmas goodies from a jolly Santa hat and games to colouring books and stickers.

A huge thank you too, to all the donors who gave so generously to our Fill a Kit appeal – helping to fill Cancer Kits for adults, children and elderly people with cancer. In 2022 we sent out 4,213 kits to individuals receiving cancer treatment.

We’re using the extra money raised from the Christmas appeals, to fund Cancer Kits for children and adults in 2023.

Do read the lovely thank you messages sent to us by hospitals and hospices (see below) – they really show what a difference you make to children affected by cancer.

  • We’re happy to say we have received all your boxes – thank you very much. Our Oncology nurses have taken a lot of the gifts out on their visits and the activity bags will be given out at our next clinic on Wednesday. The gifts are ideal, and I understand they have brought lots of smiles. Please thank everyone involved in fundraising and sorting. Hope you all have a Happy and Healthy Christmas and New Year. • Dear Cancer Support UK. The children from Schiehallion Ward and Day Care would like to thank you very much for your knind gifts and donations. They make a big difference to their stay in hospital throughout the festive season. Your kindness helps us to provide joy and activities during a hospital stay and builds happy memories for the children and their close family and friends. Many thanks again for thinking of us. The boys, the girls and all the team in Schiehallion. Royal Hospital for Children Glasgow
