Cancer Support UK Chief Executive Gemma Holding has announced that she will leave the charity at the end of February 2022.

Gemma joined Cancer Support UK in October 2015 and for the past six years has led the charity through significant change and growth, transforming it into an organisation with the capacity to thrive.

Her clear vision and decision to refocus the charity’s fundraising approach and concentrate on delivering innovative  emotional and practical support for cancer patients, has achieved significant benefits for the charity – increasing its reach, impact and income.

On announcing her decision to leave Gemma said:

“I have really enjoyed the challenge of transforming the charity and seeing the positive impact our cancer services have had on the lives of adults and children living with cancer. I am extremely proud of the strong organisation we have become. This has, however, only been possible with the support of our brilliant Board, our dedicated staff and, of course, our wonderful volunteers. I’m also extremely grateful to the charity’s supporters.”

Cancer Support UK Chairman Matthew Doyle said:

“The Board and I would like to say a huge thank you to Gemma for all her hard work on behalf of the charity – her achievements as CEO have been extensive. She joined CSUK during a difficult time and she deserves full credit for stabilising the organisation and getting us to where we are today.”
