Zak’s Story

For a child with cancer, when you’re in and out of hospital, Christmas can feel like any other time of year, full of upset and discomfort.

 This has been Zak’s life. He was just two years old when he was diagnosed with cancer in May 2022. 

 Zak has undergone an intensive programme of chemo and steroids treatment at the Royal Marsden Hospital. The doses were gradually intensified over a three-month period, to the point where little Zak was having chemo nearly every day and his hair fell out. 

It was in the midst of this extremely difficult time that Zak’s Cuddles for Christmas teddy arrived. It’s hard to overstate the impact it had. For a frightened and very sick little child, the warmable soft toy provided so much joy. Zak took it with him on every hospital visit, and it slept with him in bed, providing soothing comfort.
